Over the past 24 hours, I’ve been thinking a lot—maybe even too much—about Prime Day.

I’ve thought about how the arbitrary sale day has become a feeding frenzy for online media, so desperate to earn kickbacks through affiliate fees that they become shameless vessels of free advertising for one of the world’s biggest companies. I’ve noticed how many of those publications are out of their depth, pushing deals they haven’t adequately vetted on shoppers who don’t know any better.
