Advisorator has been helping people stay on top of technology for nearly a decade. Each week, tech journalist Jared Newman sends practical advice, tips, deals, and news insights, so that readers can make smarter tech decisions. The newsletter goes out to more than 10,000 subscribers across its free and paid editions.
About Jared

I’m a tech journalist with two decades of experience helping folks use and understand technology. I started Advisorator in 2018 after getting frustrated with how much tech coverage consists of business news, gossip, and hype. The newsletter cuts through all of that with information you can use.
Alongside Advisorator, I also publish Cord Cutter Weekly, which helps folks save money on TV, and I’m a regular contributor to PCWorld, Fast Company, and New York Times Wirecutter. I started out as a local newspaper reporter and hold an M.A. in magazine journalism from New York University.
Commitments and ethics
I come from an old-school, pre-influencer journalism background. Here’s what you can expect from me:
- I don’t accept payments of any kind from the companies I write about. That means no ads or sponsorships from streaming companies, and no paid travel to industry events.
- I don’t invest in the companies that I write about, outside of mutual funds where I don’t control individual investments.
- To prevent sales commissions from influencing my coverage, I limit affiliate links to the deals section of my newsletter and website.
- I use a privacy-respecting form of analytics and collect as little information as possible to run the website and newsletter.
- I don’t sell your personal data or share it with advertisers.
- What you read comes from an actual human. I use AI for research and coding projects, but not to write for me.
