Protect your wrists

Welcome to Advisorator’s Tip of the Week, helping you learn something new from the tech world every Tuesday!

Lately I’ve been experiencing some hand and wrist discomfort after working at the keyboard, so I started looking for some simple exercises to prevent RSI and carpal tunnel syndrome.

That in turn led me to a single image (a part of which is shown above) describing five hand exercises to perform throughout the day. It’s based on a five-minute video from Dr. Levi Harrison, an orthopedic surgeon who offers advice for professional gamers and e-sports players.

While it’s too early to say if the exercises will erase the discomfort, they are pretty satisfying to perform, and I can already feel them stretching my hands and wrists in ways I normally wouldn’t. Consider adding the image to your browser’s bookmarks bar for easy access throughout the day.

Also: I’ve removed the wrist rest from my desk to focus on floating my hands above the keyboard. That resting place, while comfy, can apparently do more harm than good.
