6/6/2023: Vacation link dump

Hey folks! I’m still recharging my internal batteries for one more week. So in lieu of a regular issue of the newsletter, it’s time for another vacation link dump.

As with previous editions, this is a collection of apps and sites that seemed interesting enough to stash in my bookmarks, but that I may never get around to covering in any big way.

Full disclosure: Some of these I haven’t even tested yet, so I merely provide links to them “as-is.” But if you’ve got some spare time and are feeling adventurous, you might want to give them a try:

  • Readow.ai: List all the books you like, get recommendations for more.
  • BookFinder.com: Compare new and used book prices from thousands of sellers.
  • Revere: An app for remembering details about your friends and family.
  • Univer.se: A tool for making funky-looking websites.
  • Obsolete Sounds: A collection of things you don’t hear anymore.
  • Hemingway: Grade your writing on this free website.
  • Opinionate.io: Type out a topic, watch a pair of AIs debate it.
  • Klack: A $4 app that makes your MacBook keyboard sound mechanical.
  • Omnivore: A free, open-source read-it-later app.
  • AudioPen: Take voice notes and get AI-generated summaries.
  • Voice In: Speech-to-text in your web browser.
  • Choosy: Control which browser to use for web links in any Mac app.
  • Anori: Turn your browser’s new tab page into a dashboard of widgets.
  • Cala: Like Tinder, but for deciding whether to cancel a meeting.
