Two streaming music tips

Welcome to Advisorator’s Tip of the Week, helping you learn something new from the tech world every Tuesday! Or, in this week’s case, two new things on similar topics:
Freegal’s facelift: Freegal is a free website that lets you stream music and download MP3s with nothing but a library card. I’ve mentioned it both in the paid newsletter and in my guide to getting free stuff, but now it has a fresh design that’s worth another look.
Beyond just looking snazzier, the new “Wishlist” feature comes in handy for future downloads, as Freegal’s partnering libraries limit how many MP3s you can save per week. (In my case, it’s seven.) Streaming is still unlimited, and the new design might make Freegal more enjoyable on that front as well.
Spotify’s more personalized playlists: Elsewhere on the music front, Spotify has launched a neat feature called “Niche Mixes,” which you can think of as genre- or mood-based playlists that incorporate your personal listening habits. If your taste in 90s grunge leans more Pearl Jam than Nirvana, for instance, you’ll see that reflected in the “90s Grunge Mix” that Spotify offers.
So how do you find these niche mixes? Spotify may suggest some on its home screen, but you can also type “Mix” into the search bar—with or without additional search terms—for examples. Thus I have learned that “Egg Punk” is a thing.
