Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and countless others have followed with their own sale events, collectively inventing a week-long consumerist indulgence out of thin air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, many of these deals are no better than the standard sale prices that I track throughout the year. Filtering out the noise can be exhausting, especially with so many websites just angling for sales commissions on offerings that won&#8217;t really save you money. Here&#8217;s how you can vet deals with real historical data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Copy the Amazon link, head to <a href=\"https:\/\/camelcamelcamel.com\/\">CamelCamelCamel.com<\/a>, and paste the link into the search bar to see its price history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using a computer? Install <a href=\"https:\/\/camelcamelcamel.com\/camelizer\">CamelCamelCamel&#8217;s extension<\/a> for your browser. Then, click the extension icon while viewing any Amazon listing to see the price history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On your phone? Install <a href=\"https:\/\/keepa.com\">Keepa<\/a>, then hit the Share button on any Amazon product page and share it with the app to see the price history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shopping on another site? Checking the Amazon price trends can still help you determine a deal&#8217;s value.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Still not sure? Look up the product <a href=\"https:\/\/slickdeals.net\/\">on Slickdeals<\/a> to see what previous sales have looked like, or search the web for the product name along with terms like &#8220;record-low&#8221; or &#8220;all-time low&#8221; for previous deal posts on sites like <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5toys.com\/\">9to5Toys<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Check the second-hand market:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/advisorator.com\/members\/2023\/05\/16\/5-16-2023-stop-paying-full-price-for-tech\/\">Used and refurbished gear<\/a> can save you money year-round, but it can also help determine whether the price of a new product is remarkable by comparison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.com\/\">eBay<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backmarket.com\/en-us\">Back Market<\/a> sell lots of certified refurbished gear with warranty coverage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swappa.com\/\">Swappa<\/a> lets you buy tech products directly from other users, which is cheaper but lacks warranty coverage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Best Buy often sells open-box products at discounts that reflect current sale pricing. Buying in &#8220;excellent&#8221; condition will get you a like-new product for less.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read real reviews:<\/strong> Don&#8217;t let sale prices alone be your guide, especially for TVs, soundbars, and other products with endless model options to sift through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtings.com\/\">RTings<\/a> for home entertainment, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.soundguys.com\/\">Soundguys<\/a> for audio gear, and my pals at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcworld.com\/\">PCWorld<\/a> for laptop reviews.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use specific model numbers, such as &#8220;OLED65B3PUA&#8221; instead of &#8220;LG OLED TV.&#8221; Especially for laptops, make sure the review matches the specific configuration of what you&#8217;re looking to buy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I also like browsing deal pages on sites that link to their own in-depth reviews, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/wirecutter\/deals\/\">Wirecutter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/deals\/\">Engadget<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If no reviews exist, consider that a red flag.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resist FOMO:<\/strong> A lot of the deals that emerge around Prime Day wind up coming back later in the year. Avoid impulse-buying products for the savings alone, and always have a clear idea of how you&#8217;ll use whatever you buy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notable deals<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a short list of deals that are better than usual, on products I personally like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>iPads:<\/strong> Basic model <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0DZ75TN5F?th=1\">for $280<\/a>, iPad Mini <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0DK3YF38G?th=1\">for $379<\/a>, iPad Air <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0DZ76BN5D\/\">for $479<\/a>. <em>These are all $20 less than previous record lows.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Samsung\u2019s 2024 65-inch QD-OLED S90D<\/strong> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.com\/itm\/335743411986\">$998 refurbished<\/a> with a two-year warranty using promo code <strong>JULYFINDS<\/strong>. <em>I got this exact deal around Black Friday, but for the 2023 model. Eye-searingly bright and vivid picture at a killer price.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Roku players:<\/strong> Streaming Stick HD <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roku-Streaming-Stick-HD-2025\/dp\/B0DXXYS4BJ\">for $20<\/a>, Streaming Stick Plus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roku-Streaming-Stick-Plus-2025\/dp\/B0DXY833HV\">for $30<\/a>, Streaming Stick 4K <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roku-Streaming-Device-Vision-Controls\/dp\/B09BKCDXZC\">for $35<\/a>, Ultra <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Roku-Ultra-2024-Streaming-Rechargeable\/dp\/B0DF44RTTP\">for $69<\/a>. <em>Consult my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcworld.com\/article\/705134\/which-roku-should-you-buy.html\">Roku Decision Flowchart<\/a> for help deciding.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Beelink SER5 Mini PC<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Beelink-SER5-Computer-Graphics-Support\/dp\/B0D6G965BC?th=1\">for $234<\/a>. <em>I use this little desktop PC <a href=\"https:\/\/advisorator.com\/members\/2023\/03\/14\/3-14-2023-the-incredible-300-pc\/\">as my everyday computer<\/a>, and I paid $56 more for it.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dell 27-inch 4K 120 Hz monitor<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0F1GF1KFC\">for $240<\/a>. <em>Okay, I haven&#8217;t used this one myself, but I did commission a monitor expert to <a href=\"https:\/\/advisorator.com\/members\/advisorator-guides\/how-to-pick-a-computer-monitor\/\">write a buying guide<\/a> for us, and this is an upgrade from one of his picks.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apple AirPods Pro 2<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0D1XD1ZV3\">for $149<\/a>. <em>$10 less than Black Friday.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pixel 9 Pro XL<\/strong> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Google-Pixel-Pro-XL-Smartphone\/dp\/B0D7HV78PT\">$749 unlocked<\/a> (in Hazel only). Or open-box in black <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestbuy.com\/product\/google-pixel-9-pro-xl-128gb-unlocked-obsidian\/6587896\/openbox?condition=excellent\">for $584<\/a>. <em>To me, it&#8217;s the best non-foldable Android phone you can buy.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apple Watch Series 10<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0DGJBRKHV\">for $280<\/a> (42mm) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0DGHNXP5Y\/\">or $309<\/a> (46mm). <em>New lows for Apple\u2019s latest smartwatch. Other color options and band sizes available.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apple AirTags<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0CWXNS552\">for $20<\/a>, or a four-pack <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0D54JZTHY\">for $68<\/a>. <em>$2 more than record-low for the four-pack, but lowest price since March.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Baseus 10-in-1 USB docking station<\/strong>, plus a pair of 45W chargers and cables, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/promotion\/psp\/A1Z8JS1F9919O4\">for $46 total<\/a>.
